The Capital District Coalition Against Islamophobia supports Cosecha May 1 Strike!

Strike to protect our neighbors • No work • No school • No shopping

Day without immigrants • March and Day of Action

Monday, May 1, 2017 • 10:30 AM

Meet at the Masjid As-Salam Mosque, 280 Central Ave. Albany NY

The Capital District Coalition Against Islamophobia will meet at the Masjid As-Salam at 10:30, then walk across the street to the Shrine Church of Our Lady of the Americas (273 Central Ave.) to join the Solidarity Committee of the Capital District, New Sanctuary for Immigrants, Masjid As-Salam Mosque and others.  This larger group will then march to join the rally at Townsend Park.   Monday, May 1st is International Workers’ Day.

This year, immigrant rights will be a central focus. Around the country, labor unions, community groups, and faith communities will be joining together to reject the harmful rhetoric and xenophobic ideology of the President, and call for racial, economic, and worker justice. Movimiento Cosecha (Harvest Movement) has called for a one-day strike of immigrants and allies: no work, no school, no shopping.

In Albany, a march and rally, led by our local Cosecha circle  will meet at Townsend Park (Central Ave and Henry Johnson Blvd) at 11am and begin marching at noon. There will be several stops along the way, and the march will end at Wallenburg Park, across from the Federal Building and the Palace Theater on North Pearl St. Once the march arrives, there will be workshops and a rally at 5pm.

Everyone welcome — join us for all day or just part of the day!
